Bridge in Burlington Landlocked Parcel

The Landlocked Forest contains upwards of 12 miles of narrow trails and historic backwoods paths.  The trails wind their way up small ravines and through pine forests, blueberry patches, and rock escarpments.  In the winter, the paths are well trodden by showshoers and cross-country skiers, and during the rest of the year, the trails are enjoyed by walkers, trail runners, bicyclists and families looking to find a brief respite from suburban life.  These trails are a town asset, and allow visitors to experience and appreciate the natural environment without damaging it.

There is a national movement to create “liveable communities,” and one of the main factors that improves a town’s well-being is access to trails and open space.  The Landlocked Forest is such an asset, and while town access is currently inconvenient, our goal is to provide Burlington residents with easy access, and thus improve the quality of town life.
